implementing centers
By Julianne

Clip to ScrapBook
One thing that helped me was observing other classrooms that used centers. It is VERY useful to visit a classroom at the beginning of the year when the teacher is just setting up their centers rotation. If possible, visit the same classroom later in the year when centers are in full swing. This gives you a more realistic idea of how long it takes for students to learn center rotation and activities. Many school districts have programs in place to allow teachers to do observations. They may provide a sub and may also have a list of good teachers to contact. Or you can ask around and see if anyone knows of classrooms where centers are used in educationally appropriate and useful ways.
