AR bb

Clip to ScrapBook
We use AR in first grade and outside our classroom all four first grades have appletrees and the sign an orchard of readers. Each time our students read a booka and take a test they get an apple with their book title on
it and they sign it and we hang it on the tree. They love this and show parents and everyone their apples - each class in first grade has a different colored apple for their class. We have our aide die cut lots of them so we are always hanging up apples on the trees. In my room I had a board that said we're eating up those points and I had apples with points on them. For example a
5 pt apple would have 5 pts written on it and one bite taken out of it. The higher the points, the more bites taken out of the apple. Then I die cut worms and put the students names on the worms and put the students next to the points they were closest to. So if Johnnie had 12 points his worm would go next to the apple that had 10 points on it. This was quite a motivator for my students. We also use Reading Ren. at our school and my classroom has been a model classroom for the last 3 years and master classroo for the last 2 years. So if you have any other questions, I'd be glad to help you out! Good luck and have fun with your apple theme!
