assignment notebooks are good for tracking

Do your students use assignment notebooks? We have them and I save the last square for parent communication. If students kept their green card all day then they received a stamp in that square, if they lost a card I wrote a brief statement as to why. Parents signed this square every night and they were always aware of how their child behaved that day. I trained the kids to leave their notebook out and open to the right page before they went to specials and then took a few minutes of plan to complete this. It really takes less time than it looks and parents love the open communication.
