Grades
By Jennifer in OK

Clip to ScrapBook
I don't know how your report card is set up, but if it is like the one I have to use, there are some areas listed below the reading grade where you check/star/assess different areas of reading. You can use this to get your
weekly grades. You can orally question students and mark a certain number of points (based on how many times in the quarter you may ask the questions) to get a grade. You can do comprehension questions, vocabulaary activities, or centers to get grades. Skill pages or skill lessons can help you to assess the various skills they must learn. Your literature circles can do evaluations
on the members of the circle based on participation. I wouldn't put a LOT of weight on this because you don't want the kids to determine each others grades, but you could do it once or twice per 9 weeks/quarter.

I don't know the various areas of Reading Workshop as I don't know what it is. Try taking the different areas of it and assess them weekly/bi-weekly.

Hope this helps some!
