Running Records

I use the book An Observation Survey , by Marie clay. I also like Gay Sue Pinell and Ilene Founta's book titled Guided Reading(sorry , but my system will not underline the title). The authors give great explanations| and suggestions as to how to set up centers that will be used as you pull a small group for guided reading, as well as a section of listed leveled books... agreat help! Louisiana requires a test called The DRA for grades 1-3. We must take a running record of every student in our class for a formal assessment. the end. In order that they be familiar with this type of assessment MANY of the teachers in this area do running records year round. It is a great way to assess!
