Salary in Private School By Anna

I, too, teach in a private school, and I was disgusted to hear that newly hired first year teachers make more starting out than I do with 3 years experience. Makes me just a little irritated knowing that I've had to put| in my years experience to get the $700 raise each year, but they come in new off the street, and because they have to pay in competition w/other schools, they start higher than me. I know it's all relative though, because one of the teachers whose taught at this school for 20 years only makes $3000 more a year than me. Sometimes it seems that we are getting the brunt end of the deal, | | but just remember why you are there, and why you continue to come back every year. Yes, I could make $8000 more a year by going to public school, but I choose not to. I could be uspet that public school teachers start out making $5000 more a year than me. I just have to keep in mind that where I'm at is where I'm meant to be, and I'm here to do the mission work of the church.Keep your chin up, and I'd personally let it go. You are right, it's not that much money, and certainly not worth it to stir things up and make people think you are a "troublemaker" (if I dare use that word- I in no way think you are). Know why your higher power put you in your position, and thank Him that you have a job in a school you like (many are without jobs in this trying time of our nation). Sorry to sound a little pious, I'm just trying to put things into perspective (something I have to constantly do to myself to keep me level-headed). Have a great and blessed year!!!!
