Assistants
By Jessica

Clip to ScrapBook
I have had a lot of trouble with my assistant this past year. As my first job with an assitant I wasn't sure what exactly she should be doing. I never really gave her my complete expectations at the beginning and I think
that might have been part of the problem. Many of the assistants in my school like to do too much for the students. Often they don't have as high of expectations for the students as we do. I think it is important to establish a relationship with your assistant but also to tell her up front what you expect from her. This year I am going to have the same assistant but with complete different
expecatations. I have written out a schedule of exactly what she will be doing for every minute of the school day. Hopefully this will reduce all of the time she spent doing nothing last year. Hopefully your experience will be better than mine because it sure has been tough.
