spelling activities

Miss H......
My kids do a lot with the words during the week...Here are a few things. ALSO, the Sitton spelling books have TONS and TONS of ideas and word play games that can be done in 5-10 minutes a day. There are
many activities for each spelling word.
1. I make wordsearches for them. Near the end of the year, they made the wordsearches with graph paper and traded with a friend.
2. Play memory with the words. Students have word cards and buddy up with someone so there are 2 of each word. Turn them over and play "memory."
3. Write a sentence for each word.
4. Play..."guess that
word" by giving hints to guess which word I'm thinking of.

I give them a preview of them on Monday (pretest) & then we practice the words ALL week (basically a mock-test but they correct their work after). On Friday, I give the review using the forms provided in the program's books.
