julie some other options i have used for creating quality books as well as quantity are to use other materials also. I have used scholastic's "storyworks" by the same publisher as scholastic news , super science etc... real affordable and I order it in sets of only six. It is a magazine (small) with numerous articles...usually one fiction, a play perhaps, an informational article, historical fiction, poetry (lots of different genre). i do use soem chapter books mine go beyond 1 week for sure it works fine. After a somewhat lengthy ch book we're sure to do a short story or two to follow.
