depressing job search

I am from India. Daily we see several sites that contain teaching positions information. One thing I am not able to follow from various questions that are put on this discussion groups is .... whether finding a teacher job in USA is that difficult when every news item, every web page says that there is huge shortage of teachers in USA and several placement agencies are working day and night to get teachers from overseas.
Is it a hype that is created by people or there is a real genuine necessity for teachers? I am trying to search one by coming over there to USA and please suggest me.
