numbered levels of voices
By jessica/3/MO

Clip to ScrapBook
My team member uses numbered levels of voices. I am fuzzy about the levels ,but I know there are 5 levels. 0 is silence, 1 whispering, 2 6 inch voice, 3 12 inch voice, 4 group only voice (I think). You could manipulate
these however you want to. The point is at the beginning of the year she teaches these levels to the kids and then just holds up a finger to let the kids know what level their voice should be.

I think that whatever the noise level is as long as you are comfortable with it it should not matter what other teachers think about it. My classroom is one of the loudest in the third grade;

however, it is productive noise. My rule of thumb is that they must be able to become silent in 5 seconds or less. There are times to be silent and times to be loud it just depends what you are comfortable with.
