My sanity plan
By Hermie

Clip to ScrapBook
For the last two years, I have attempted to keep my sanity with regard to pencils by providing pencils for all students. We have a community container (flower pot or other cute container). Each day when the kids come in the door they all get a pencil from the container. There are plenty of pencils available. If a pencil breaks during the day, the kids just place the broken pencil in the tub, lead down, and take a new one. At the end of the day, all pencils are collected and the student helper sharpens them.

This system keeps the whole class moving, without nagging on my part. It doesn't teach responsibility, but it does maintain your sanity!
