Mary - I think you may have misread my post By Cathy-Dee

I did not say anywhere in my post that they should relocate to a major center for him to become a better player. What I did say was that in the major centers he most likely would have to already be a better player to end | up on one of the "major teams". There is a court case right now going on because of this - the boy even had a great review but was not offered a position on the team. I actually recommended some of the smaller communties around some of the larger centers - and to me 200 km is not far from a major city. I live at least 550 km from a larger community and just over 900 from a city and | | I do know in those areas because everything is spread out - there are not as many chances to move on unless you are truly gifted. And at that point they do move to be able to actually play more hockey. And I am all for rural areas - I personally never want to live in a city again - I love the "smaller" towns and yes they often offer just as much as any city would. I was also discussing this from the point of view of her husband getting a job in Canada. Unless he wants to work for the RCMP and is prepared to move every 2 to 3 years they will have to move to a larger center that has it's own police force.
