I truely understand what you are going through, our school received one of the REA grants which states that the faculty must attend a 5 day workshop during each summer of funding. My principal and the new Literacy Leader knew before school was out what week we were to attend but said nothing. I also knew by the way of friends from other schools and even mentioned that the faculty needed to know yet two weeks before the training we recieved letters, the only time told. Since the faculty signed an assurance stating that they were willing to participate the district and the principal recommended that they cancel their plan. Yes, we get paid to attend but in contacting our union rep. we found out that if it's mandatory for us to attend we have to get paid a full days of work. Check with your rep. and see if they same applies.

Yes, I plan to attend since I co-wrote the grant but stated to the principal and Literacy Leader that it was unprofessional to wait so long. I told many of the faculty but it really was not my job or place to make sure everyone was informed before school was out. I tried my best and half of the faculty will not be attending due to vacations already planned.
