Sorry to do this Cathy-Dee, but your advice to locate to a major centre in order to become a better hockey player is a way off base. It also prickles my "small town" roots. I live in a small town in SW Manitoba, at least 200 miles from the nearest urban centre, and there are FIVE men who come from within a 60 mile radius of where I live who either have, or currently are, a member of the NHL. Another, Andy Murray played and coached in the NHL and for Team Canada. He comes from Souris, another town of approximately 2500 pop. The competition is keen with many teams playing both urban and rural teams. There are just as many opportunities to develop skills in our small town leagues. If you actually take a look at successful players, a very large percentage come from small rural areas - not cities.
