You might find someone who would make your chair covers out of denim or canvas. You might also buy some plain replacements and paint them..a number of years ago I found some directors chairs on sale at Lowe's and painted pigeons on one and a cartoon nurse on the other, as gifts to my aunt and uncle (he was a pigeon fancier and she retired from the hospital lab)YOu could do something like that and paint books or book characters on them..I used just plain acrylic paint and sprayed with an acrylic sealer.
Last summer I bought some of those folding chairs (in a bag)They are made of metal and canvas (child sized). Got them for something like $4.98 at Wal-Mart. My students love to get them out and sit in them in my reading area (also have bean bags and one of those fold out chairs there. These chairs hold a max of 150 pounds so I rarely will have a studetn who cannot use them..(I weight a bit more than that and have tried them just to see and they held me).
