I teach in CA. I have a B.A. in Liberal Studies, with CLAD emphasis (for bilingual education). In addition,you need a teaching credential. Mine is multiple subject, for teaching at the elementary level in a self-contained classroom. The credential takes another year (45 quarter units, I think). Don't ask me how long...I was a professional student! I went to community college for my AA. When I finally transferred to the University, I took about 3 years to finish, including some summer classes. Not easy, when working 30 hours a week, but worth it! Go for it.
