HW idea that works after 20 years!

Finally!!! I have found a way to collect and keep track of HW! I have a 3-ring binder in my room on a bookshelf. It never moves from that spot. I have sheets all run off in the book for the year. Across the top it says
Name.........Assignment............Date
Then
I just have blank rows. When the children come in, each morning, they read my note on the wipe board. I have a check column and a collect column. I have tables in my room and each table has a Captain for the week. The job of the captain is to collect what I need from their table and check to make sure whatever is written in the check

column is done but they do not collect it. I have a laminated folder for each captain to put colected HW in as well as any notes for me. On the cover they write who is missing an assignment. They then place the folder on the HW table for me to collect. They come in at 8:35 and all folders are on the table at 8:35. If anyone is missing something the Captian reminds them to sign the book. The next day, or when they complete the missing assignment, they bring it to me and I give them a red pen to cross their name off in the binder. That way I know it is done. It has worked great. The best part? I can look at the binder on Friday anD see that Ryan had 6 late assignments for the week and drop a note home about it! Love the system! The captain job rotates every week.
