First Week Activities
By Tabitha/5th

Clip to ScrapBook
Here is a list of things that I did last year and probably will do this year.
* Pass out cookies, as many as they take ex. 5 then they have to share 5 things about themselves.
* Go over class code of conduct, consequences,
and rewards
* Discuss things in class and how they are to be used
*Go over morning procedures, lining up, lunch, recess, headings on papers, and packing up at end of the day.
* Each table comes up with 3-5 questions to ask the teacher then they get to ask them.
* Write a paragraph about oneself and then decorate a paper person to look like yourself.
* Go over homework
for first day of school.
* Go over procedures every day until they get what is expected.
* Write a BIO Poem about oneself. Type up and place on construction paper to hang out in the halls.
* Introduce the Science Process Skills by changing into a new set of clothes at lunch and have them remember what my old outfit was.
* Decorate math folders that they will keep for Trialblazers work.
* Introduce Pen Pals from California and have students start letters describing themselves and what they like and do. Gives me a chance to review the parts of a friendly letter.
* Test reading levels for reading series so that I can start reading the next week.
* Start math lesson on Friday. Go over materials they will be using in math class and expectations on how to handle them properly.
* Start social studies as well.
For the first month of school I am drilling procedures and conduct in my class. I will review this until I know they have what is expected of them.
