I taught 6th grade and came across your same problems. After the first half of the year I decided to create questions for the videos. Unfortunately, I had to view through the video and write the questions along with the| movie. I told them they had to pay attention for a grade. I also just opened the shades so there was plenty of light but not too glaring. I also turned on a lamp by my desk and turned their chairs and desks to the direction of the television. This helped me alot. As far as the talking, I only had a few because I stood directly in back of them and snapped at anyone who was not on task. |
| It was hard to write my own questions, but now that I've done that, this year will be easier. (I hope) I told them that not only did I want them to learn from the video but to increase their listening skills.
