Clip to ScrapBook
I taught 6th grade and came across your same problems. After the first half of the year I decided to create questions for the videos. Unfortunately, I had to view through the video and write the questions along with the
movie. I told them they had to pay attention for a grade. I also just opened the shades so there was plenty of light but not too glaring. I also turned on a lamp by my desk and turned their chairs and desks to the direction of the television. This helped me alot. As far as the talking, I only had a few because I stood directly in back of them and snapped at anyone who was not on task.
It was hard to write my own questions, but now that I've done that, this year will be easier. (I hope) I told them that not only did I want them to learn from the video but to increase their listening skills.
