Clip to ScrapBook
As the children enter my room in the morning, their first responsibility is to turn in their homework before they order lunch and grab their morning jumpstart work. As the children are working, I quickly collect the pile
of homework. I tell the children to quickly stand when they hear their name called. Once all of the names are called, those who are sitting stand (incomplete work) and those standing sit (complete work). This quickly identifies those students who failed to complete their assignment(s). I then staple the homework assignments together and place a post-it note on the top of the pile. This lets
me know who did not turn in their work. I give them one day to turn in the work without penalty. After the first day, the children begin to lose points.

Once all of the assignments are collected and stapled, you can check them at your convenience.

Perhaps this will help you. I have tried allowing the kids to check in their own work, but they sometimes checked their names when the work was in fact incomplete.
