4th grade homework By sandy

I see homework as a time to provide review and practice of previously taught concepts so that my students can develop their abilities. My homework is not always exciting, but I feel it is worthwhile. I usually give some sort of homework Mon-Thurs, but not over the weekend, except for the 20 min. of reading they are expected to do each evening. Because we are departmentalized, I teach my homeroom all language arts and I teach math to all 3 classes. I cannot control what the other teachers assign for science and social studies hw, although it is usually not much. I assign math homework almost every | | night (#of problems varies). Usually they are reviewing the skills we have been working on in class recently or from prior units. For spelling, they have one assignment Mon, Tues, Wed. I give the same assignments each week, so I never have the problem of "I didn't know what to do." The assignments are not difficult or terribly long, but do provide good practice. I give a grammar/language assignment once a week. This year, I will also be doing the paragraph a week program each week. Almost all of their reading assignments are completed in class. Hope this gives you an idea to start with. It is just one way of doing things.
