If this was a split class last year, then teach whatever didn't get covered from last year's curriculum. If not, then most people teach 2 up and 1 down. THis means if there are 3 units in Social (for example) per grade, teach 2 grade 6 units and 1 grade 5 unit, then the next year you would do the opposite to cover the rest of the grade 5 curriculum and the remaining grade 6 unit.
