summer work

I am going into my 24th year of teaching and I love it so much that I "play school" all summer long! My room is always cleaned first in the summer because I like to go in and set it up and work on units, bulletin boards,| etc. Some of my friends and family used to worry about me, but have come to realize that this is my hobby as well as my profession. They now see that I am blessed to love what I do for a living so much that I choose to do it in my free time. I haven't burnt out yet, after all these years of this habit. I love the quiet time in summer when I can allow my creative juices to flow. On the other | |
hand, I know excellent teachers who do take a break in the summer, and that works for them. To each his own! You have to do what makes you feel good about yourself and your teaching.
