Pre-adolescent girls are always going to bicker with each other. I think you have to keep offering them solutions to their problems. You can't just turn a deaf ear or refer them everytime one exists.
The secret box is a good idea, but be sure to read it often. Sometimes kids reveal some very private things that need further attention. If, for example, you have a 5th grader that is suicidal (and WE DID this year) you have a responsibility to report anything written ASAP. Now I know this a bit "out there", but just be careful to read your box everyday, so the responsibility doesn't come back on you if something happens. Just a thought.....
