Different last names
By Julie/IN

Clip to ScrapBook
When I'm not sure or can't remember what the parent's last name is because it's different, I check the emergency card. When I call a parent at work, I ask for the parent using their first and last name. When I tell them who
is calling, I tell them my first and last name, so-and-so's teacher (just in case they don't recognize the name)!
I agree with the above posts. I introduce myself to the parents with my first and last name. In the beginning of the year, I call the parents Mr. or Mrs. so-and-so. With parents that are in my room more than just at Open House and Parent/Teacher conferences, I usually
call them by their first names when I phone them at home or when I'm talking to them out in public. If they come into the room while I have students, I address them as Mr./Mrs. -- no matter how comfortable I feel around them.
