Reply "First Year self contained"

I have been teaching in a k-3 self contained classroom for 4 years. I have found it very difficult to do whole group lessons. The only lessons that I do whole group is calendar, or arts and crafts activities. When I do my reading, writing, and math blocks I work in small groups or with individual children. The first year that I taught I tried to do whole group all the time and it almost killed me. Besides that the children weren't recieving what they should have been. Things have ran much smoother this way. Feel free to e-mail me if I can give you any other suggestions. It hasn't been that long since I was there.
