6th graders
By Jay

Clip to ScrapBook
I found 6th graders to be more respectful hardworking and friendly. They were less proned to loud outbreaks. I would have them do a lot of reading out loud as opposed to in depth lecturing. Sixth and seventh graders are less proned to adult problems-skipping, talking back, threatening, spit balls, and other crap. My happiest subbing was grades 6 and 7 in a 45 minute class setting. I would do a lot of hands on activities, oral reading, and brief notes. A good problem of the day is good for math. A map of the day or journal is a good way to start the class. Believe me, I once had a long term 6th grade (my certification is 7-12). I really missed the 6th graders when I dealt with the 9Th grade classes from Hades! Good luck!
