In Tennessee, there are alternate means of certification. In Memphis, there is such a shortage of certified teachers that there are "internship" programs in place where the university comes out and observes you etc. and you get credit for "student teaching" even though you are a full-time teacher with a classroom of your own. Perhaps your state also has a means to do this. Tennessee will not waive the student teaching requirement, but they have provided an alternate means to obtain those hours. It depends on your state regulations what the university programs can do to get you certified. Hope that helps.
