Charlotte's Web
By Jennie

Clip to ScrapBook
This past year my students read Charlotte's Web and created a bulletin board after reading the book that incorporated an art activity with writing. Each student had a shoe box and in the box he/she had to use the spider web
you can find around Halloween time to "spin" a web. They also included a plastic Charlotte in their web. Some also made Wilbur, Templeton, Fern, and other characters to go under their webs. In the web, they had to write (on paper) an adjective not used in the story that could describe Wilbur. Then, they had to write a point-of-view paper (from the eyes of Charlotte) as to why this word
was chosen, why it described Wilbur. My kids had a great time with this activity. We put the shoeboxes up on a bulletin board in the hall and had lots of compliments on their creations!
