HI Jenn! I can't offer any advice since I am reading GR&W for the first time, but we're obviously having similar thoughts. I know that my students will have to have atleast 18 words. I am also concerned about self-selected words because things at my school have been done the same way for a long time--but I'm ready to try something different. I've been trying to decide between letting students choose 10 words from the lesson in the spelling book or me assigning 10 words from the spelling book. The other words will come from the 500 high-frequency list and need to learn list.
I have been wondering if others who already use GR&W also have a word wall. If so, how do you incorporate it into the Language/Word Study block?
