Clip to ScrapBook
Hi Debbie,

These are the genres I use:

Realistic Fiction -- consists of stories that take place in modern times. The characters are involved in events that could actually happen.

Historical Fiction -- made up of stories
that take place in a particular time period in the past.

Mystery -- a story where a crime or other problem must be solved using clues. A mystery can be realistic or historical.

Folklore -- includes stories, myths, and fables that people told each other over the years. These stories were later written down.

Fantasy -- fiction that contains elements that are not realistic, such

as talking animals and magical powers.

Science Fiction -- often includes futuristic technology within its blend of scientific fact and fiction.

Poetry -- verse written to evoke thought and feeling from the reader. It often uses rhyme to convey its message.

Informational -- non-fiction books that give factual information on a variety of topics.

Biography -- factual stories about real people from the past or the present.

Hope that helps,
Lori
