Have fun with fifth!
By Kathy

Clip to ScrapBook
Having taught both fifth and first, I agree with the other posts. I think you will find that you thoroughly enjoy fifth. True, the work is harder--but mostly I loved that part. Being able to delve into deeper content
material was fun! As far as having to be more organized...in my opinion, there's no grade that needs more organization than first. So if you survived first, you'll do fine in fifth.

Sure it will be different--and probably a lot of things you'll miss! Those bright eager faces, those hilarious things first graders always say, the way they light up and shout to you if they happen to spot

you outside of the classroom.

Fifth graders definitely have less "hero worship" for the teacher than first, but you are still a VIP in their lives and they still want to please (even when they won't admit it) Plus, they are wonderfully independent, you can have great class discussions, and they have a delightful sense of humor.

Have fun with fifth!
