Hi Melissa,
Here's a book that may help....FLEXIBLE GROUPING IN READING: PRACTICAL WAYS TO HELP ALL STUDENTS BECOME BETTER READERS (Grades 2-5). I just finished it and it has tons of ideas. It deals with using the basal and content materials quite nicely and has many great forms to use. I think it would help! I bought it at my local teacher store for $12.95.
