Hi. I will also be teaching first grade next year for the first time. I was unsure about sending summer letters too. But, I purchased some post cards that have colorful smileys all over the front. I thought I might send them out a couple weeks before school starts with a simple note such as...Dear, _____, Hope you had a great vacation! I'm looking forward to meeting you! School begins: _______ in room:_____ . See you soon! Your teacher, _________" Also, with rising stamp rates, postcards less costly.
