I agree with the idea of character education or what we call "Lifeskills" (cooperation, responsibility, teamwork, flexibility, integrity, common sense, etc.) No matter what grade or subject we teach, I believe we all strive to instill citizenship in our students to help them reach their personal best and become contributing members of society. Curriculum hangs on this framework and without it would be meaningless. Research has shown that the business community needs workers with "people skills" as well as work skills. Those with people skills can be trained to do other things. If we are lacking in basic people Lifeskills, it is hard to build a future of success. I also feel this takes on significant importance as our world continues to shrink and we all need to be a cooperative family. Also, I'm not sure who your audience is going to be, but feel this topic is one any audience could relate to. Good luck!
