Chapter Books
By Lori 2

Clip to ScrapBook
Hi Ericka,

When my now fourth grade daughter was in second grade, she loved these books --

Fantastic Mr. Fox by Roald Dahl
Mr. Popper's Penguins by the Atwaters
The Courage of Sarah Noble by Alice Dalghiesh
(but lots of third grade teachers use this as a class book)
The Chocolate Touch by Patrick Catling
The Hank the Cowdog Series by Erikson
Little House in the Big Woods by Wilder (but I think this one takes experienced listeners due to the descriptions)

She also adored the lengthy picture books by Bill Peet. Most are more wordy than your average picture book and make a great author study.

Hope that helps. She is out of town at the moment, but I will ask if she can think of any more when she gets back.

Lori
