I found a cute flag that has a birthday cake on it. It was big enough to cover a smaller bulletin board in my classroom. I then wrote each child's name on brightly colored index cards along with their birthdate. I tacked these in a cirlce around the perimeter of the flag in order according to their birthdates. When it was a child's birthday, I moved his or her card to the center of the flag for that day. It was a good way for me to remember each student's birthday. On the morning of their birthday, I would slip a card and a birthday pencil in their desk so they would find it when they were getting their books ready.
