Pro Number System
By Ashlyn

Clip to ScrapBook
I student taught in a room with a number system and it was VERY helpful. In addition to lining up by numbers, grouping by numbers, etc as mentioned above I would like to add some other pros to numbers. She had the clothespin
discipline, if they misbehaved they moved their numbered clothespin. She also had popsicle sticks with the numbers on them that I used when calling on students for answers. This way it was random. At the end of the day you could dismiss by numbers instead of by rows or tables. It is a great way of doing many things in the classroom. She had a whole wall with mailbag boxes that had
the student numbers on them. Kids would put the papers in the boxes, then stuff the envelopes that would be taken home weekly for the parents. It could also be helpful in assigning books. The uses of a number system are endless!

It can also cut down on having to redo things that might have names on the them. Instead generic numbers are used (like the clothespins and popsicle sticks).

I will definitly use it in my own classroom!
