1) Give students frequent positive feedback, praise, and attention when they are displaying positive behavior. 2) Be aware of the student's preferred items and activities (social reinforcement too) as these can all be used for positive reward programs. 3) Offer choices to students whenever possible 4) Be consistent with your behavioral limits 5) Ignore some minor behaviors...save your energy for the "bigger stuff" DON'T 1) Get into verbal or physical "control" battles with stuents 2) don't use "threats" that you might not be able to follow through with These are generally some of the guidelines we were given...hope it helps. I've never been asked any too many unusual interview questions...usually stuff like "tell me about yourself" and "what is your biggest challenge in teaching" something along those guidelines.
