Clip to ScrapBook
There are so many books that I have used with my kids. Here is a brief list:

Survival books: Hatchet, Island of the Blue Dolphins, Call it Courage, Julie of the Wolves

WWII books: Number the Stars, Stepping on the Cracks, Daniel's Story, In the Year of the Boar...

Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry

My kids in the past few years have really loved Gary Paulsen and Lemony Snicket books.

Don't forget that you have a lot of reading material available with your other textbooks and a basal if they have one. Try to find out the district's money has been spent because that is what most admin's will want you to push (basal, novels, Accelerated Reader, integrated stories, etc.)

Good luck and let us know how it goes. Sixth grade is great!
