accomodating sped student
By Lisa

Clip to ScrapBook
This is by no means a complete list, but it's the best I can do in this venue.
Classroom accomodations for the sped student,
1. shorten assignments
2. lengthen amount of time given
3. adapt curriculum to his
level
4. give alternate assignment
5. allow to work in group
6. give him a peer tutor
7. change seating environment to meet his needs (sit next to certain student, on certain side of room, near board, away from distractions, etc.)
8. read information for him
9. allow student to dictate assignments to me
10. use of special equipment (FM system for hearing impaired, computerized
assignments for student with OT issues, etc).

To keep in touch with Sp.Ed. personnel:
1. visits to classroom during my planning time
2. email, email, email
3. phone calls from my room to hers

Hope this helps. Email if I can clarify or add to anything.
