Daily Schedule
By Tabitha

Clip to ScrapBook
This was my schedule for last year. I am not sure, but it will probably change next year. It all depends upon lunch schedule, specials schedule, and resource schedule.

8:40-9:05 check-in, turn in homework, start
morning work written on the board
9:05-9:25 Go over spelling unit for the week
Monday morning
9:30-9:55 Language arts and writing period
9:55-10:55 Reading (Pairs, self, groups, or
whole class)
11:00-11:30 Lunch
11:35-11:55 Recess
12:00-12:20 SSR/Bathroom break
12:20-1:05 Science/Social Studies
1:05-2:05 Math
2:05-2:15
Pack Up/ WRite down homework in
planners
2:15-2:30 Read Aloud
2:30-3:15 Specials
3:15-3:25 Trivia/Read Aloud (If we get out
of specials on time)
3:25-3:45 Dismissal

When my students finish their work they have file folder games, computer time that I schedule, or read their AR books and take the quiz over it on my teacher computer. After I am finished teaching a lesson a student is allowed to go to the bathroom. Each student gets a die cut with their name on it. They place it in a basket on my filing cabinet and then take their name out of the can and place it on the filing cabinet, take the appropriate pass and go to the bathroom. I only allow one boy and one girl out of the room at a time. That way no one can get into trouble. This is for the morning and the afternoon once the whole class goes.
My morning work is: 1. Journal entry
2. Spelling work for the day.
3. Handwriting practice packet for that
day.
4. Math review
5. Science or social studies paper or
reading assignment.
6. Read AR(Accelrated Reader) books
quietly.

I start with my procedures from the first day of school so that they know as soon as they come into the room they turn in their homework, give me any notes or money, and start on the work. It is not talk time or play time. If I have to say something to the class then they loose 10 mintues of recess because they are not following procedures. It works well for me. I know that my schedule will change next year do to the principle changing when we go to lunch and specials and also how many resource kids I have that leave my room. I hope this helps calm your nerves a little. I have been teaching 5th grade now going on 4 years. I have been self contained for all the years. I like it better because I get to know my students better and find ways to help them better. Emial me if you have any other questions. I will be glad to help.
