Center format

Last year I would split my students into 3-5 groups (depending on what we were working on, where they were at with levels, etc.) One "center" was always the basal story for that week. Students read the story, discussed it, I usually had them do a graphic organizer to help with whatever concept we were trying to reinforce, then they would spend some time reading books by the same author, genre, or concept.
