Maniac
By teachem

Clip to ScrapBook
Maniac Magee is one of my favorites. Most of my kids like the book (I have only had one student who hated the book in the last three years). The dialogue is one area that I focus on in the book. Tone of voice is something
that is difficult for my kids to "read." So I read aloud areas where tone and attitude are important in the beginning. There are a couple of good theme/book sites for Maniac (I'll try to get back to you) and I have used some of the activities in an old Mailbox issue. I also have made up about a dozen activities from throughout the book (draw Cobble's Knot and answer some higher-level
questions about the situation, create a map of Two Mills, etc.) that my students love. I have my packet at school but I could give you more info. in August if you would like.
