Puzzle things out...thinking center
Put the puzzle together...math center
Puzzling things...science
Puzzling words...reading
Completing the puzzle...language arts
Puzzling people and places...social studies

Take
file cards and cut them in half to look like puzzle pieces for different things in your centers. Take old puzzles and paint them and put addition, or subtraction facts on them or prefix, suffix words on them, etc. Put a big white sheet of paper on wall and draw black lines on it like a puzzle and have the children write their names in each one, then when they do good work, behavior,
etc. they could add a star or maybe even a puzzle piece. When they got so many, then they'd get extra computer time, or free time, or something special. Around your door you could put up a big sign "For A Puzzling Good Year in __th grade" then all around it have cut out paper in the shape of puzzles with skills they'll learn during the year. These are all primary things and I'm sorry I don't know what grade you teach. Maybe this will strike a spark and make you think of lots of creative ideas.
