my school tried allowing the kids to play in the morning before the teachers arrived to pick them up, but it was getting too rowdy. The only people supervising them in the morning is our security guard and a perm sub. I teach in a 3-6 school and it is really the 5th and 6th grades that were too wild, but they changed the routine in the morning and now the kids are required to sit in line (we have a blacktop playground) or stand behind the sitters. It is nice to pick them up when they are in a relaxed setting instead of them being all sweaty and riled up.
