first days of school
By Su

Clip to ScrapBook
I teach first and I agree teaching routines and rules are very necessary. However, I also want my children to want to come back to school the next day and the next, etc. In the past I have focused on rules and routines
and quality of work as well as getting to know everyone. I read a lot of stories. This year I will continue to do that but also plan to add some things that are fun and exciting. At the beginning of the year the attention span is short and the children are excited about school. I want to introduce watercolors, shaving cream and do many short simple science experiments in the first days
of school. My goal is to have a simple experiment for discovery every day the first week or so. This will let me teach the scientific process and five senses for investigating as well as I hope get my first graders thrilled with school. I also am working on incorporating singing and drama into my lessons more often.
