Read Alouds

I use the Read Alound Handbook by Jim Trelease faithfully when selecting books for my read aloud time. I also lean towards any of the Newbery winners. A couple of choices for this age group are: Number the Stars by Lois Lowry; My Brother Sam is Dead by James Lincoln and Christopher Collier; Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry by Mildred Taylor.
