Another game that I don't think was mentioned is Chess - which is great for thinking skills. My son is going into 4th and loves these games as well as the ones already mentioned! He also loves the game Life and checkers. Boggle is good for teaching spelling. I agree to hit garage sales - you can find some great deals! If you still need some at Christmas, you can find great sales around that time, too!
